KOIN 6 Spotlight’s Ean Perkins Photography Salem Oregon

We’ve  been working hand in hand with O.A.T.H (Oregonians Against the Trafficking of Humans) and Viki Lewis for a while on putting together a human trafficking awareness campaign photo shoot that would feature girls in cages that could be stacked photographically on the sides of semi-trucks.  We actually went in for two more shoots after this was aired and included men and women from different nationalities the best we could to communicate that it’s not just young girls that suffer from trafficking.  It would be in an effort to communicate to truckers, commuters and all who drive our interstates.  Not only is there going to be the images on the side of the trucks, but the Trafficking Hotline to report suspected trafficking.

While in the middle of preparing for all this Mike Donahue from Local KOIN 6 calls me in response to an email my dad had sent him a while ago that communicated on the work I did with CNN and Aaron Cohen in Cambodia on Human Trafficking.  So we invited KOIN 6 in to our shoot and had a blast!  It’s really neat to see how they do live TV.  They were supposed to have shown the story on Thursday the 7th, but because of sattelite link problems they weren’t able to do what they wanted.  Mike and Bill (the camera man)  were actually okay with giving the story a day to breath so they edit without a time crunch.  It did air on April 8th’s five o’ clock news.  I’ll be getting the files soon so we can post them on the web.  I hope the story and what we’re doing helps saves lives.  Thanks to KOIN 6 for featuring me and my passion and the air time in hopes to educate the public more.  Also a huge thanks to my amazing dad for hooking all this up and to Eric Anundi for letting us bombard your studio.  Please if you have any comments on this post make sure and respond.

Thanks to all that were involved!  (Images courtesy of my great friend John Moore)

Here’s a mock up of what a truck could look like.

Here’s what each shot looked like before stacking.  This is Holly one of my clients.  Lighting this was a challenge, because the cage

was super reflective.  After about an hour and a half of metering, adjusting, re-adjusting and test shots, we had what we needed.  My most

complicated lighting setup yet.  Such a great learning experience.  You can never stop learning.

My beautiful wife Nanette, she’s who I always lean on.  Love you babe.

Here’s may dad.  You’re such an amazing dad.  Thanks for always believing in me even when I didn’t.

Nanette and I are here with our great friends Carolina and Kris.  If it wasn’t for you guys holding those lights, treading through the snow and  just loving photography I wouldn’t be where I’m at.  Thanks guys

We Need to know why we’re doing what we’re doing!

Hey, so I picked this up off of Chase Jarvis’ Blog and was really challenged by it.  Kevin Spacey talks about success.

To want.  To be ambitious.  To want to be successful is not enough.  That’s just desire…
